Shit my hand is up. I just spent the morning with the Federal Police going over the finer points of extending my visa and here is how it breaks down.
When I crossed the border between Argentina and Brazil the guy on the Brazilian side was a douchbag and only gave me a 45 day visa (instead of the 90 day tourist visa I am entitled to) and told me that I could renew my visa when it had expired. What I didnt realise was how important it was to renew my visa BEFORE it expired. Unfortunately sometimes I enjoy putting things off so today when I went to renew my visa I was told that because my visa had expired 13 days ago I could not renew it and I would have to pay a fine of $8.27 for every day I stay past that 45 days. Doesnt sound that bad right? I was ready to pay, no problem. There is one catch though. Once you pay the fine for overstaying you visa you then have to leave the country within eight days. Luckily for me I was siting next to an Irish guy who had been through this a few times and he was able to tell me the finer points of how to deal with this kind of thing. Because Im travelling by bus and boat Im not going to encounter any static but I do have to fly from Manaus to Sao Paulo on the 11th of September. Thats all good though because I fly home on the 18th so if I go in and pay my fine on the 10th everything will be cool.

So all that shit aside let me tell you whats been happening. I spent last week in Jericoacoara (or just Jeri) and it was pretty awesome. Jeri is an hours drive away, by 4WD along the sand dunes, from a town called Jijoca and has sand streets and an extreemly laid back atmosphere. It also has a lot of soap dodgers but the good with the bad right? For a small town with not too much to do it was another high lite of the trip which I put down to the awesome people I was hanging with. We had Italians, Izralies, Americans, French, Brazilians, Ze Germans, Swiss and Dutchies. Basically the routine was get up about 9, have breakfast, talk shit till lunch time, have lunch, maybe do something in the afternoon but probably not, go to the sunset dune and watch the sun go down, go and watch the Capoiera on the beach till it got too dark, go and have some drinks, have dinner, go out, get drunk, go to bed, repeat. I did this for about a week straight. Almost everyone who goes to Jeri ends up staying longer than expected. Hopefully this afternoon I will have some photo´s up so you can see what it was like.

Today I am in Sao Luis just handling some business. Tomorrow I will catch my last long distance bus (11 hours, thank FUCK!) to Belem and in Belem I will just chill for a few days before I catch the boat down the Amazon to Santarem, then on to Manaus. Im hella excited about this boat ride. I have had people tell me that its a bit boring because it is just the same shit for days but how many chances am I going to have to catch a boat down the Amazon, sleeping in a hammock just watching the water go buy? I cant wait.

Here is a song that I actually dont like too much - its that same cliched shit about how much money this guy has, but man the chorus makes me laugh. Im not going to say too much just have a listern. Jamie Hay, this ones for you.

But to make up for that here is an awseome song by Syl Johnson ``Is it because Im black?``. Some of you guys will know I get excited by sample spotting. This song was sampled by Wu Tang on their track ``Hollow Bones`` which is also a good track.

I would also like to make some apologies. First to Fortaleza - Im sure that Fortaleza is a nice place once you get to know it. It doesnt blow goats. Secondly, busses arent just for poofs. Hetrosexuals, lesbians, bi/curios and transgender people also use busses. Sorry. Like I said - dont drink and blog.

You see me, bye haters.

Put your hand up if you are in a foreign country illegaly

Well if this isnt just the blog that keeps on giving. Here is a story. I was in Fortaleza last week and I was excited because it is big beach city and I thought there would be pleanty to do there. Wrong. Fortaleza blows goats. There is supposed to be 2 million people there but I was walking around wondering where they all where. I planned to spend 4/5 days there but ended up breaking out after 2. Some funny shit did happen while I was there though.....

The thing I was most looking forward to in Fortaleza was going to Pria de Futuro. Thats right folks - that translates to Beach of the Future. So I got my arse on the bus, rode through some favelas, arrived at Pria de Futuro and it was nice. Real nice. One of the best beaches I have been to. Nice waves, nice sand, heaps of people - all that good stuff, so I decided to have a beer and think about life. As I sat there various people came up and tried to sell me shit whic is what happens at every beach in Brazil so I wasnt surprised - towels, jewellery, sunglasses, cigarettes, henna tattoos, crayfish, crabs, watches, chains, prawns - one guy even wanted to sell me fruit salad. No thanks. So I just sat there drinking my beer chilling and shit when the fruit salad guy (lets call him FSG) came up, sat down and started talking to me. Nothing suss right? It was about 4 in the afternoon, 30 degrees and I figure that this poor guy has been walking up and down the beach all day trying to slang fruit salad to tourists so fuck it lets talk. Wetalked about the usual stuff - first time in Fortaliza? Yeah. You like Brazil? Yeah. What country are you from? Australia. Which girls are better Australian or Brazilian? Brazilian. Do you want some coke? What? Do you want some coke? Shit yes I do but Im not going to but that shit of the guy that just tried to sell me a fruit salad. He kept saying he would give me a good price, how good it was, I would have no problems with police or anything, everyone was doing it etc. I tried to be polite and say as much as I could to just get the guy to go away. I said I didnt have much money but that wasnt a problem because he would give me a good price. I said I didnt want problems with the cops he said that wasnt an issue. I said maybe tomorrow and he said where are you staying I will bring it to you. He just didnt stop. So I said screw this, finished my beer and said I had to go. So as Im walking away along the beach he runs up to me and says something along the lines of ``thank god, I just finished work for the day`` and goes to shake my hand so I do the polite thing and shake it. Too bad he´s holding half a gram though. I mean what could I do? So here I am now holding half a G of YaeYo standing on the beach talking to FSG. He just wouldnt let up. He only wanted $20 but I wasnt buying. Now I know what a lot of you guys may be thinking - Walshy you are a dick. Perhaps. And maybe I would have if THE EXACT SAME THING DIDNT HAPPEN THE DAY BEFORE AT A DIFFERENT BEACH. The story´s and the speil were almost identical. In the end I told the guy I would just give him $5 to go away. He said yes so I gave him back his Yae, gave him $5 then went and caught the bus back to the hostel. What more would you expect from Pria de Futuro?

Today I am Jericoacoara which is a little town on the coast with about 3000 people and has sand streets and people selling drinks on the beach after dark. I was only going to stay for 4/5 days but have ended up staying for a week because this place is cool and we have an awesome group of people. Tomorrow I will spend another 20 or so hours on a bus to Sao Luis (buses are for poofs). I will be home in a month. I hope your all prepared.

Good times. Serious good times. Pria de Pipa was a pretty good place but it rained for about three days so there wasnt much I could do there. I stayed there till last Thursday then caught a van to Natal which has been awesome. It rained some more on Friday so once again I couldnt do much but on Saturday I took a buggy ride along to the beaches to Genipabu with seven other people and I have to say that I thought I was going to die. The buggy drivers ask you at the start of the trip if you want the trip ``with emotion`` which basically means ``do you want to shit yourself?`` Seriously. I dont mind a bit of crazy driving but if your in the back seat of an open roofed buggy and you roll (which we almost did, a few times) its all over, but I suppose these guys are professionals. It was the closest thing to drifting that I have ever done.
After the buggy ride we went to the bar and got loose. Real loose. I dont think anyone went home solo that night or had a bad time. I also learnt a new term, ``sexiled``, its when you get kicked out of your room because people are getting busy in there. Good times. Today I am marinating a bit and getting my shit togeather before catching the bus to Fortaleza tomorrow which will take eight hours. Aparently its not uncommon for the busses to Fortaleza to get robbed so fingers crossed eh? I have a surprise in store for you all when I get to Fortaleza which will probably be funnier to me than to you but fuck it, stay tuned anyway.
Shit. It has just started raining again. I came to Brazil to get away from this shit...

Music!!!!! If you guys are wondering why I keep putting music on here it because I have no real access to music on demand, which drives me crazy, but I can listen to music via youtube. The music I put on is usually what I was listerning to while I wrote this shit. I actually didnt know that this video existed but somehow stumbled across it the other day. Raekwon (say it kids - rake warn) with ``Incarcerated Scarfaces`` off one of the best rap albums to come out of the 90´s, if not ever (yeah I said it!) Only Built for Cuban Links.

Man last week was bullshit. It was the least fun I have had since I left. Here is the brake down - basically I went to a few places that I didnt enjoy, no one spoke Engrish, it rained for a couple of days so I couldnt do anything, I spent a couple more days on busses and I was a little bit home sick. But dont worry folks cos Im back in form, back on the beach, the weather is awesome and I have plenty of time left to see all of the places I wanted to so I can take it a bit easier.
A few days ago I was in Olinda which was pretty disapointing really. I had spoken to a few people that said that they loved Olinda so I was excited to get there but I didnt enjoy it much at all. It had lots of cool old buildings and was a nice town but it was pretty small and there were ``guides`` on every fucking corner asking me if I wanted to do a tour. Eventually I caved and did one of these tours but all we really did was went around to all of the churches in the town (just so you know Olinda has 20 churches). So if you go to a town and you see it all in one day then what the fuck else do you do? Leave. I got my arse back to the bus station and headed to the next destination. Today I am at Pria de Pipa which is a chilled beach town about an hour out of Natal which has about four beaches with cliffs on one side and sand dunes on the other. They also have dolfins which Im about to go and check out.
So to celebrate being back in good form here is a couple of old favorites.
I was just going to put one of these tracks but couldnt decide which one so here they both are.

De La Soul - A Roller Scating Jam Named Saturday

De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest - Buddy

This is one of the few pictures of my Brother. He´s second from left with the drink in his hand. I wish he was home.

Anyway, here is some music.
This is the Gravediggaz. It has beats by Prince Paul, the RZA before Wu Tang were big and the Gate keeper before he died of colon cancer. Shit is rough.

Also - NORE before he got fat. This is the first track I ever heard that was produced by the Neptunes and has Pharrell in the video. We are talkin 95/96.

If you drink and blog your a bloody idiot.
